There are two components to our training.
The first is our online platform. You’ll receive weekly modules for each of the 28 weeks that include video, reading assignments, workbooks and exercises.
During the first 24 weeks (Phase 1 and 2), you will be supported in your 1-hour live call with your cohort Master. Each cohort is an average of 15 participants to ensure that you receive ample time for personal coaching, getting your questions answered and practicing your new skills.
You’ll also be assigned to a Practice Coaching Circle with 2-4 other students so that you have time to practice coaching and gain the confidence you need to thrive as a Jai Certified Parenting Coach.
By week 14 you’ll be ready to start working with practice clients! You will work with one case study practice client in order to complete your certification requirements.
Finally, you spend the final 4 weeks of your certification (Phase 3) working with a Business Mentor to launch your Parent Coaching business!
We work to offer an assortment of times so that you can find a group regardless of where you are in the world. Most of our cohorts take place during weekday working hours in the U.S. time zone. We also have a trainer in Sydney, Australia for students in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, and offer at least one 8pm Eastern time cohort each month.
Our students typically come into our program with four general categories of intention for their coach training. This is a very personal and unique choice and there’s no “right path” for our coaches. We want you to use this powerful training in the way that works best for your family, time capacity and income needs and goals!
The Four Categories:
1) To impact their own parenting confidence and fulfillment
Some of our students simply want these skills for their own families. There is no greater immersion into making the shift from the dominant model of parenting to the new, connected, peaceful and empowered model of parenting, than gaining the skills of a parenting coach.
To read about a family that had this intention, read about Dr. Nic Lucas and his wife Rhoda here!
2) To create income working part-time while raising kids
Many of our students' primary focus IS parenting their own children. The opportunity to become a Jai Certified Parenting coach gives them a way to make extra money on the side, while being able to pick up their kids from school every day, homeschool, or tend to small children who are still home full-time. For these parents, working with a couple of clients at a time and earning an extra couple of thousand dollars per month for their family is enough!
Meet a coach who is using her certification as a “side gig...” Read Niurka Maldonado’s story here!
3) To earn a full-time income replacing employment with purpose-driven work
Other students come into our training with the intention of doing this work full-time and earning a full-time living doing it! A full practice would likely be made up of 10-12 personal clients at a time, with a group program or two to allow families more flexible payment options to access this life-changing work!
Building a full practice takes time and commitment, but here at Jai, we give you the training, support and community to allow you to reach your business goals!
4) To become a thought leader
Some of our coaches have bigger entrepreneurial goals… meaning they want to build a leveraged business that generates revenue beyond getting paid to work with clients. These coaches are writing books, creating their own digital courses and programs and cultivating and nurturing large social media followings. Seeing the core work of Jai being transformed, applied in new ways, or to specific niches – i.e. kids with ADD, divorced families, BIPOC families, military families, etc – fills us with pride and joy!
To read about one of our “empire builders” meet Lisa Smith, founder of The Peaceful Parent here.
Yes! The beauty of this community is watching the work evolve, shape shift and be applied to different niches, combine with other modalities and serve diverse populations.
The business training gives you the foundations of setting up and launching your parent coaching business. You’ll discover the simplest and most affordable ways to get your business off of the ground and start enrolling clients. In fact, you’ll be highly encouraged to enroll paying clients while you are still with us in this final month of your parent coach certification program (see full course syllabus here).
Phase 3:
We love our Jai graduates community! There are hundreds of coaches from all over the world in our private graduates group, there for you on a moment's notice to provide resources, advice and connection. Growing a business is hard. Growing it without community is almost impossible!
When you graduate you can continue to stay connected through the group, participate in community calls with guest speakers, and join our virtual coaches conference.
You’ll also be listed in our Coaches Directory so that we can help people find you!
Coaching and therapy are two very different professions. Therapy is a healing profession, focused on the past and meant to support mental health challenges. Coaching looks to the future, supporting people to create intention and vision, and then follow through with action and commitment.
We are a coaching organization. When there is unresolved childhood trauma, or mental health needs in the clients we serve, we refer out to licensed mental health professionals.
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are some of our core values. We strive to make our programs welcoming to people of all cultural backgrounds, races, ages, gender identities, religions and physical abilities.
Part of our mission is to grow a community of parenting coaches who hold the values of Equity, Justice, Inclusion, Diversity and Integrity in their client work, in their businesses, and in their lives.
We support our team members with education and information relating to issues of social justice and equity, and provide support and required supplemental training on issues of equality and equity to our students and graduates. We also explore all areas of coaching skills through the lens of Equity. We do so in order to support our coaches to be aware of issues of white supremacy, patriarchy, internalized oppression and social justice, so that they can be stewards of justice in their practices and in the world.
We continue to learn and grow in this area, and are committed to doing better and better when it comes to supporting and nourishing all individuals.

The specific tools and strategies that we teach are grounded in the foundations of Non-Violent Communication, Brain Development, Emotional Intelligence and the Neuroplasticity work of Dr. Bruce Lipton.
Since the unconscious mind accounts for over 90% of our behavior, parents see changes almost immediately.
These strategies allow parents to successfully shift out of the dominant (power over) paradigm of parenting, which creates disconnection, resentment and rebellion—to the relational, empowered paradigm of parenting which restores connection, trust and mutual respect.
You can expect to be able to reflect back on the patterns that were at play when you were a child, specifically through the lens of differentiation between the power-over paradigm—of control, conditional love, manipulation, punishments, and demands—and how to make the shift to Transformational Parenting. You’ll notice the ways you carried the way you were parented into your parenting today.
You’ll discover the steps to learning a new way to parent—one that prioritizes the humanity of every being in the family, the relationships, and true unconditional love and acceptance.
You'll do the work to become the parent you dream of being, but don't know how.
You’ll build skills as a Parent Coach, based on interpersonal neurobiology. You’ll learn how to support other parents to evolve their own personal narrative and develop new access to emotional regulation, conscious communication and empathy.
You’ll learn how to teach people to communicate, leaving behind projection, shame, blame and trigger, and discovering how to make the shift to a more connected way to communicate, while still being able to set boundaries that give children safety, structure and guidance without shame or manipulation.
You’ll be supported through any fear or resistance to letting go of power-over strategies and discover the tools to allow others to do the same. We explore healthy aggression, grief, fear, and JOY, giving families a new system of peace and connection in their homes.
Finally, our commitment is that you graduate from our program with the competency and confidence to bring this work to the families you work with as a Jai Certified Parenting Coach.
Our work is rooted in Attachment Science—understanding the way we were parented as children and how it defines our relational context—meaning our ability to connect vulnerably and authentically with anyone outside of ourselves as adults, and specifically as it relates to our own children.
This is done through the methodologies of non-violent communication, emotional intelligence and somatic awareness. This is the science of the nervous system, learning to self-regulate, so that we can co-regulate with our children until they gain the capacity for self-regulation (in their 20’s!!). We dive deeply into neuroscience, specifically understanding the development of the human brain.
One of our favorite success stories is a family with children in their 60’s! Many of our students have grandchildren, or children already in college, or off living their adult lives. It is NEVER too late to reconnect with you child, to heal and mend things that happened in the past, even decades ago!
It is a different experience for Jai students whose children have already left home, and aren’t in the day to day experience of this transformation. But different isn’t good or bad! It is simply different. And often, these are the coaches that have more time capacity to take this work out into the world and change lives!
